Presently we have 5 International students attending our school. From Japan we have Ayumi Oka, Sho Nakamura and Kazushi Noiri. Merewai Semoll comes from Fiji. We also have Julia Wedberg who is here from Sweden on an overseas schooling experience.
Our international students are hosted by families within the Whangamata Community.
These students get an opportunity to learn English, to make new friends and adopt the Kiwi Culture. At the same time our students benefit by understanding to some extent, a different culture and possibly some language skills.
We also host smaller groups of students for shorter periods of time, throughout the school year. This enables some families to experience another culture for a 2-3 week period. |
